FORT LAUDERDALE –- The Mets lost infielder Ruben Gotay to the rival Braves this afternoon as part of a host of moves.

Gotay was claimed by Atlanta after being put on waivers by the Mets two days ago in part so they could make room for Fernando Tatis on the roster.

The Mets also returned Rule 5 reliever Steven Register to the Rockies, although Register still could come back to New York if the Amazin’s are able to swing a trade with Colorado.

Finally, backup infielder Anderson Hernandez was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans.

The Mets have until Sunday to reach the 25-man roster limit.
