The Cleveland Guardians reportedly dealt with hotel issues after Monday night’s Game 5 of the AL Division Series with the Yankees in the Bronx was postponed due to weather.

The hotel that the Guardians were staying at prior to Game 5 was overbooked when the team sought shelter there after the postponement, according to ESPN. The team checked out of their hotel ahead of the decisive Game 5, not expecting to stay in New York another night.

After MLB announced the postponement, Guardians players and coaches reportedly split up their stay around New York.

“They had to not only check out of their hotel, come [to Yankee Stadium] with their bags, not knowing if their plane was going to back to Cleveland if they lost last night or to Houston [to face the Houston Astros in Game 1 of the ALCS] if they won,” ESPN’s Eduardo Perez reported Tuesday during a live appearance on SportsCenter.

“Now, let’s not forget they checked out, so now they have to go check back into the hotel, but wait a second, the hotel, overbooked. They had to go to a different hotel, yes they did and, not only that, they had to split up the groups.”

Guardians players and coaches reportedly wound up staying in Yonkers, while team officials spent the night in Midtown.

Major League Baseball made the announcement to postpone the game just after 9:30 p.m. ET on Monday. Game 5 now will be played Tuesday at 4:07 p.m. ET at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees and Guardians are currently tied 2-2 in the best of five series, which was already delayed due to inclement weather in New York last Thursday.
