Rarely do we get a look into Derek Jeter’s private life, but his election to the Baseball Hall of Fame provided a glimpse.

The Players’ Tribune video of the moment when Jeter received the call opens up with his 2-year-old daughter recognizing her father on TV. Once he gets the news from Jack O’Connell, Jeter’s father, Sanderson Charles Jeter, can be seen proudly squeezing his son’s back with Jeter’s mom on the other side.

The longtime Yankees captain gave his wife, Hannah, a kiss while she cradled their youngest daughter. Jeter continued to receive hugs from his mother and father as the video panned to signs his children made for him to celebrate the historic moment.

Jeter, a 14-time All-Star with the Yankees, was notorious for avoiding controversy and keeping his personal life separate from his baseball career. But for a pinnacle moment in his career, Jeter opened up the doors just a little bit.
