The second of the Mets two first-round picks, SS Reese Havens, will finally make his professional debut Monday, as he is scheduled to be in the lineup as the Cyclones’ designated hitter.

“It will be nice getting back in there, for sure,” Havens told my colleague Brett Cyrgalis before tonight’s game in Brooklyn. “It’s tough to watch.”

As we’ve stated before here, the South Carolina product played in every one of the Gamecocks’ games over the past three seasons, so it only figures that he would be put on the shelf with an injury just before his professional debut.
