Two weeks after the Yankees promoted their secound round pick in last year’s draft, catcher J.R. Murphy, from extended spring training to Low-A Charleston, last year’s first round pick, outfielder Slade Heathcott, followed the same path yesterday.

And in his professional debut, Heathcott stole the show, thanks to a walkoff RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Charleston a 5-4 win over Hickory.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Heathcott – a Texarkana, Texas native – went 1-for-5 in the game. He hit leadoff for Charleston, and here is the breakdown of his at-bats:

– Pop out to shortstop leading off the bottom of the first.

– Groundout to first base with a runner on third and none out in the bottom of the third.

– Struck out looking to lead off the bottom of the sixth.

– Lined out to third leading off the bottomg of the eighth.

– Singles to center with the bases loaded and no one out in the bottom of the 10th to give Charleston the win.
