HOUSTON — The Mets can’t hit, so they’re turning once again to … Mike Hessman. The career-minor leaguer gets the start at first BASE tonight, in place of Ike Davis, when the Mets start a seven-game trip with Jon Niese on the mound.

The two young prospects, Fernando Martinez and Ruben Tejada, who were recalled to bring some spark to the lineup, also are on the bench, in favor of Jeff Francoeur and Luis Castillo.
