Two of the Mets top pitching prospects, right-handers Brad Holt and Jenrry Mejia both impressed in their debuts with Double-A Binghamton over the past few days. Holt, the third of the Mets’ three first-round picks a year ago, was 4-1 with a 3.05 ERA in eight starts with High-A St. Lucie, striking out 50 and walking 10 in 41.1 innings. In his debut with Binghamton Friday against Connecticut, Holt picked up a no-decision after going 6.1 innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits, striking out three and walking three.

Meanwhile, Mejia was even better in his debut, which was Saturday and also against Connecticut. While he also registered a no-decision, Mejia gave up five hits, struck out five and walked three in seven shutout innings. Mejia was 4-1 with a 1.97 ERA in nine starts for High-A St. Lucie, striking out 44 and walking 16 in 50.1 innings.
