Lou Piniella claims he was “stunned” about reports that he may be the next manager of the Yankees.
Please. Piniella has been hoping for Joe Torre’s job since the day after he left the Devil Rays — possibly sooner.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure it out.
A year ago after the Yankees lost to the Angels, Torre’s job security was in question. The day after the Yankees were ousted, I spoke with Piniella.
