Washington Nationals pitcher Patrick Corbin will honor the late Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs when he takes the mound Tuesday night.

Corbin, who normally wears No. 46, will don No. 45 for Skaggs, who died at 27 Monday.

, he feels like it’s what he needs to do,” Nationals manager Dave Martinez told reporters.

Martinez said Skaggs and Corbin were best friends. The two were drafted by the Angels in 2009, and traded to Arizona together in 2010. Skaggs was traded back to the Angels three years later.

Skaggs was discovered unconscious and unresponsive in his hotel room Monday and was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy won’t be released until October, as per his family’s request, Yahoo Sports reported.

“Tyler has, and always will be, an important part of the Angels Family,” read a statement from the team.

The Angels-Rangers game scheduled for Monday night was canceled. The two teams will face off Tuesday night in Texas after holding a pregame moment of silence.
