How to watch and stream the series

Every game of the Yankees-Guardians ALDS will be broadcast on TBS. The games can be streamed on Sling TV and on the TBS app.

Players and storylines to watch

1. Gerrit Cole will start Game 1 for the Yankees. He enters the 2022 MLB playoffs having registered a 5.22 ERA over his last five regular-season starts, surrendering nine home runs during that span. He is also looking to erase the stench of last year’s wild-card clunker against the Red Sox, when he allowed three runs, including two homers, in just two innings in a loss in Boston. Cal Quantrill will start Tuesday for the Guardians.

2. Where would the Yankees be without Aaron Judge? They have needed every bit of the production he provided during his historic season in which he broke Roger Maris’ team and American League home run record. There are question marks throughout the rest of the team’s lineup, which will be without an injured DJ LeMahieu this series. Can Judge carry the offense as he’s done all year?

3. The Yankees bullpen is completely decimated. Scott Effross joined the ever-growing list of injured relievers on Tuesday as he needs Tommy John surgery. They’ve already been without Michael King (broken elbow) and Chad Green (Tommy John surgery) for a while, and lost Zack Britton (arm fatigue) shortly after his return. Ron Marinaccio is also out with a shin injury, while Aroldis Chapman, who has not pitched well this year, was left off the roster after blowing off a team workout on Friday.

Odds

The Yankees are the favorites to win the series. As of Tuesday afternoon, BetMGM had them at -225 to advance (bet $225 to win $100,) while the Guardians were +180 (bet $100 to win $180.) The Yankees were +375 to sweep, +300 to win 3-1 and +320 to win 3-2. The Guardians were +1000 to sweep, +550 to win 3-1 and +500 to win 3-2.

For Game 1, the Yankees were favored by 1 ½ runs. BetMGM offered the Yankees at +105 to cover the spread and -200 to win outright. The Guardians were -130 against the spread and +170 to win outright.

The over-under for Game 1 was 6 ½ runs, with the over at -125 and the under at +105.
