After five days off, the Yankees are back in action.
Because they finished first in the AL East, they received a bye into the divisional round, they had to await their opponent as the Wild Card round commenced. After the Orioles got swept, the Yankees learned their fate: they’d be facing the Kansas City Royals in the ALDS — a best-case scenario compared to the dominant Orioles.
If they make it out of the ALDS, they’ll also find a best-case scenario of sorts since their major rivals, the Houston Astros, were swept in the Wild Card round.
