There’s a lot of internet buzz about the Yankees and Blake Snell, and though there’s no evidence there’s been significant movement in talks in weeks — and the sides are at least chatting — a slight softening on the Yankees’ part was recently detected.

A Yankees person who’d been saying for weeks they are “done” seeking Snell only noted late this week that Snell’s camp would have to “move” (i.e. lower its demands) to get something done.

Based on the Yankees’ original offer, first reported by The Post weeks ago, the sides were about $100 million-plus apart (though at the time the Yankees were believed willing to go to a sixth year).

The short-term thought might be tough for the Yankees since a higher average annual value adds luxury-tax money, and they’d still be giving up draft choices. …

The Phillies are hoping to extend 33-year-old ace Zack Wheeler’s contract beyond 2024. Both sides are believed to have a keen interest in working it out. Philly is good about taking care of its best people.

Phils superstar Bryce Harper has eight years to go on his then-record $330M contract but is very interested in an extension. Harper’s case is that he didn’t seek an opt-out when he could have shows other star free agents how committed he was to Philly, and he’s worked hard to recruit stars, many successfully — including Nick Castellanos and Trea Turner. He also did a video to try to lure Yoshinobu Yamamoto. …

I’m not sure about a lot of things but pretty sure the Astros have the best bullpen back end, and they will use Josh Hader as the primary closer, Ryan Pressly at setup and Bryan Abreu in the seventh inning.
