Safe to say Tommy Lasorda’s 90th birthday party topped his 89th.

On Sunday, the legendary Dodgers manager was surprised by family and friends, including Larry King, at the Avalon in Hollywood, where the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation also hosted a celebrity poker tournament. It was especially surprising considering it was an early bash — Lasorda doesn’t turn 90 until Sept. 22.

“Because #TommyLasorda is always so supportive, we wanted to celebrate him #Heroes4Heroes LAPMF Celebrity Poker,” event producer Traci Szymanski posted on Instagram. “Thank you @larrykingnow for helping us be the first to wish a Tommy Happy 90th Birthday!”

Before partygoers feasted on the colorful cake, King, 83, led the “Happy Birthday” serenade, later handing off the mic to the guest of honor.

Though Lasorda celebrated with a three-tiered creation last year, this year’s festivities were extra special considering the Hall of Famer underwent surgery in May to replace a pacemaker for his heart.
