The Mets were without two of their top bats to start the second game of their series against the Nationals.

J.D. Martinez joined Brandon Nimmo as absent from the Mets’ lineup Tuesday night due to a sore left ankle, the team announced after scratching the veteran designated hitter.

Later in the day, Martinez said the sore ankle came about because of a cleat issue.

Nimmo did not start his second straight game after taking a spill in the hotel shower on Monday that left him with a cut on his head.

He ended up entering during the bottom of the fourth inning after Mets center fielder Harrison Bader crashed into the right-center field fence.

Luis Torrens replaced Martinez, who hit a key three-run homer in Monday’s win, in the DH spot.

Jeff McNeil will play left field with Nimmo sitting out again.

Despite their ever-shifting injury situation, the Mets toppled the Nationals 7-2 in 10 innings for their second consecutive win over Washington.
