HOUSTON — The Yankees celebrated the arrivals of Jasson Dominguez and Austin Wells by holding a home run derby against Justin Verlander.

Dominguez got in on the fun, crushing one of four home runs off Verlander, and Wells also got his first hit out of the way as the Yankees beat the Astros 6-2 win on Friday night at a sold-out Minute Maid Park.

Dominguez and Wells both went 1-for-4 in their MLB debuts, providing a spark as the Yankees (66-69) played spoiler against the playoff-contending Astros (77-59).

“We were jumping up and down like little kids when Dominguez hit that two-run homer,” said Aaron Judge, who later drilled a solo shot off Verlander for the 250th home run of his career.

“We just felt a different energy on the bus coming to the field today. Just a little bit of excitement, a little bit of jitters.

“But it was all in all a good day.”

Giancarlo Stanton and DJ LeMahieu also homered off Verlander, who has typically had his way with the Yankees before a role reversal on Friday.

“The three stalwarts … and the new guys,” manager Aaron Boone said. “That’s one of those, in what’s been a long, grind of a tough season, one of those you enjoy a little bit.”

Carlos Rodon, with Wells catching him, did well to limit the potent Astros lineup, limiting it to just two runs across five innings.

The Astros, who had scored 52 runs over their last five games before Friday, made Rodon work as his pitch count stood at 72 by the end of the third inning.

But the left-hander finished off his night by retiring seven straight and overall scattered three hits and one walk while striking out four.

“It was his best stuff probably of the year,” Boone said. “I thought his fastball was electric. Another good step for him.”

Rodon was also encouraged by his outing — besides his high pitch count — but equally enjoyed seeing the newest Yankees make an immediate impact.

“It was good to see the young guys contribute early and The Martian hit his first homer,” Rodon said. “It was a fun game to be a part of.”
