The Rockies are now on the hunt for a new general manager after Jeff Bridich resigned on Monday, the team announced.

As a result, Greg Feasel has been appointed president and COO to oversee baseball operations. Feasel, in his 26th season with the team, will also continue leading all of the club’s business operations.

The Rockies said the team and Bridich “mutually agreed” upon the decision.

The management shift comes amid Colorado’s 8-13 start to the 2021 season, which has them in last place in the NL West. Bridich drew the ire of the Rockies fan base when he traded eight-time Gold Glove-winning third baseman Nolan Arenado to the Cardinals in February.

Bridich was the third general manager in the club’s history and oversaw the Rockies’ only consecutive playoff appearances in franchise history in 2017 and 2018.

“The organization will be appointing an interim General Manager for the remainder of the season,” the team’s statement said, “and they will conduct a search for a permanent General Manager once the 2021 MLB postseason has completed.”
