TAMPA, Fla. — Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter and team hitting coach Kevin Long have completed three days of pre-spring training drills.
Jeter worked on a number of batting fundamentals, including his stride, in a batting cage during the final session on Friday at the Yankees’ minor league complex.
The 36-year old has a career batting average of .314, but hit just .270 last season. The team captain started on-field drills two weeks ago.
Long is scheduled to spend time with third baseman Alex Rodriguez and designated hitter-catcher Jorge Posada next week.
