BOSTON – Derek Jeter’s ankle will keep him out of the field, but not the lineup.

The Yankees captain will be in his usual leadoff spot against the Red Sox on Thursday, but will be DHing a day after aggravating a bone bruise on his left ankle.

“I don’t talk about injuries. I’m playing, so it’s not an issue,” Jeter said Wednesday night after the Yankees got a much-needed 5-4 win at Fenway Park.

Eduardo Nunez is replacing Jeter at short and batting eighth on Thursday. Jeter left the game in the eighth inning after coming up lame running to first base trying to beat out an inning-ending double player grounder. He came up limping after lunging to try to beat out an inning-ending, double-play grounder to second.

“It’s something he’s been dealing with,” manager Joe Girardi said on Wednesday. “There’s not a lot you can do with it. Knowing Derek he will try [to play tonight].”
