Derek Jeter’s recovery from left ankle surgery is progressing.

GM Brian Cashman confirmed on Saturday the shortstop is no longer in a boot. Jeter has been working out at the team’s complex in Tampa and is scheduled to begin some baseball activities later this month — although a running schedule has not been set up yet.

Jeter, 38, will be limited during spring training, but is expected to be at full strength in time for Opening Day after fracturing the ankle during Game 1 of the ALCS against Detroit. He underwent surgery on October 20 and has remained confident he will be back at shortstop in time for the season opener.
