TAMPA — Yankees manager Joe Girardi added a new name to the lofty praise directed toward Gleyber Torres, who had another double Wednesday.
Asked about the maturity level of the 20-year-old Torres, the manager compared it to what he saw from a young Miguel Cabrera when Girardi managed him with the Marlins.
“He was [23], in the big leagues and already been there nine years,” Girardi said with a laugh. “What’s [Torres], 20? You wouldn’t think he was 20 years old. At that age, Miguel was really mature.”
