Jose Ramirez is trying to make amends with Tim Anderson after their brawl on Saturday, but the Cleveland Guardians star said the Chicago White Sox shortstop has been ghosting him. 

Ramirez told Hector Gomez that he had reached out to Anderson to apologize several times.

Anderson has remained silent on the incident — outside of a cryptic social media rant on Sunday — which saw the two major leaguers come to blows during the sixth inning of Saturday’s game and Anderson get knocked to the ground from a punch by Ramirez. 

The Guardians infielder wanted to express publicly “that I deeply regret what happened” and he called Anderson a “very good baseball player.” 

“Everyone who knows me, knows well I’m not somebody who’s out there looking for trouble,” Ramirez said. “It’s been part of my personality and behavior to give 100% everyday at the field to help my team and trying to be an example for the younger players on my team. I want to reiterate apologies for my behavior and as always my goal is to help my team to win and reach the postseason.

“I want to thank everybody in my organization, my teammates and all my fans for their support during this process.” 

Major League Baseball handed down suspensions to both Anderson and Ramirez on Monday for their roles in the melee. 

Anderson was given a six-game suspension while Ramirez will miss just two games for Cleveland after successfully appealing his suspension.

Ramirez is set to miss just two games against the Rays during a weekend series on Aug. 12 and 13.

“Not having him for 10 minutes isn’t fun, let alone two (games),” Guardians manager Terry Francona said before an Aug. 12 game against the Rays. “But I’m glad it’s two instead of three. We got the final verdict this morning.”

Ramirez has hit just .156 with zero home runs over the month of August, but the Cleveland star has an .844 OPS and 18 home runs on the season.

Anderson, meanwhile, is in the midst of the worst season of his career: the shortstop has a .571 OPS and just one home run in 389 plate appearances this year.

MLB has not yet reached a decision on the appeal for the Chicago shortstop’s suspension.

Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase was suspended for one game and both Chicago manager Pedro Grifol and Francona were suspended one game, and fined an undisclosed amount. 

The Chicago shortstop sent out a series of bizarre and cryptic tweets on Sunday in what has seemingly been his only comments on the fight. 

Ramirez addressed reporters after the game and seemed to take a bit of a stronger tone against Anderson, saying that he felt like Anderson had been “disrespecting the game for a while.” 

Ramirez’s agent Rafa Nieve had also posted a photo of the Cleveland infielder wearing boxing gloves to his Instagram story on Sunday seemingly poking fun at the brawl.
