Former Mets catcher Gary Carter spent five hours in the emergency room Tuesday night after experiencing chest pains.

The Hall of Famer, battling brain cancer since May, was diagnosed with several blood clots in his lungs, as well as in his right leg, according to Carter’s daughter Kimmy Bloemers on a family website.

He was released from the hospital and returned to his home in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. He will have to use blood thinners (done by injecting two needles into his stomach) every day until further notice.

According to ESPN.com, Carter, 57, underwent several tests that revealed the clotting but a CT scan showed there was no bleeding around the brain.

Bloemers wrote Carter is expected to be re-evaluated by doctors today.
