After being removed from the deal for Xavier Nady and Damaso Marte, along with lefty Phil Coke, George Kontos went out and threw eight brilliant innings against Altoona last week, and earned himself Eastern League Pitcher of the Week honors in the process.

Kontos received a no-decision in the 1-0 10-inning win for the Thunder, but in his eight shutout innings he allowed one hit, one walk and struck out 13.

For the season, Kontos is 3-10 with a 3.78 ERA.
