While the Mets top international prospect in the minor leagues, Savannah’s Wilmer Flores, is participating in today’s Futures Game (if it ever gets started again because of the rain in St. Louis), the other top international player on Savannah’s radar, Jefry Marte, isn’t having the same levels of success.

Marte, a third baseman from the Dominican Republic who turned 18 in late June, is hitting .235 with five homers and 32 RBI. Marte has struggled with plate discipline, walking only 15 times while striking out 85 in 341 at-bats – almost 25 percent of his at-bats.
