Russell Martin was scratched from the Yankees starting lineup due to back stiffness and replaced by Francisco Cervelli.

Martin has been bothered for the past week by back issues. He returned Sunday after missing four games and went 0-for-4 with a strikeout and two inning-ending double plays, one with the bases loaded, against the Indians.

Since the start of May, Martin is hitting .183 (17-for-93). He’s in a 2-for-29 rut, with his average dropping to a .232.
