After missing several weeks with a strained right hamstring, Fernando Martinez finally got back on the field this week, beginning a rehab assignment with the Mets Gulf Coast League farm team.

In three games with the GCL club (including tonight) Martinez is 4-for-10 with a triple and a run scored. Both from his play and Mets VP of Player Development Tony Bernazard’s comments to me last week, it looks like Martinez should be back with Binghamton by Monday.
