After providing a much-needed spark to the Yankees this past season as part of a career revival, Matt Carpenter is leaving The Bronx for San Diego. 

The lefty-swinging Carpenter, whose fractured left foot sidelined him for much of the latter part of the regular season, signed a one-year deal with the Padres with a player option for 2024. 

The deal was first reported by MLB.com and confirmed by The Post’s Jon Heyman. 

The Yankees and the 37-year-old Carpenter talked about a reunion, according to sources, but with Anthony Rizzo at first base and Giancarlo Stanton at DH, there was no clear spot on the roster. 

Carpenter had a stunning comeback last season after being released by the Cardinals following two subpar seasons in St. Louis. 

The revival came after he spent last offseason revamping his swing and signing a minor league deal with the Rangers. 

When it became clear Carpenter wasn’t in the Rangers’ major league plans, he was granted his release on May 19 and signed a major league deal to join the Yankees a week later. 

The injury-ravaged Yankees immediately inserted Carpenter into the lineup and he quickly produced. 

He hit a home run in his second game and went on to homer 15 times in 154 plate appearances to go along with a 1.138 OPS. 

Even when much of the lineup returned to health, Carpenter was a fixture. 

But he fouled a ball off his foot in Seattle on Aug. 8 and missed the rest of the regular season. 

Carpenter returned for the playoffs and appeared as a pinch hitter against the Guardians in the Yankees’ ALDS win. 

The desperate Yankees started Carpenter while being swept by the Astros in the ALCS, though he clearly was without his timing at the plate.
