The Mets signed a pair of players with MLB experience but who didn’t appear in the majors last season to minor league contracts Tuesday.
Yolmer Sanchez, an infielder who’s spent parts of eight seasons in the majors — most recently in 2022 with the Mets — was picked up for some infield depth.
The 31-year-old spent all of last season with Atlanta’s Triple-A affiliate.

And Austin Allen, a catcher, has played in 57 games over parts of four major league seasons.

The Mets also traded OF Cooper Hummel to San Francisco for cash considerations.
Hummel was designated for assignment to make room for RHP Max Kranick, who the Mets claimed off waivers from the Pirates last week.
