The Mets announced today that they set a franchise record by already selling 3 million tickets for the final season at Shea Stadium.

By comparison, it took the Mets until May 24 last season to reach the same ticket-sales milestone.

The Mets have set ticket sales records each of the past two seasons, selling 3,379,535 tickets in 2006 and 3,853,949 tickets in 2007.
