The Mets focused on their pitchers ahead of Friday’s deadline for arbitration.

The Mets and Noah Syndergaard reportedly agreed to a $9.7 million contract for 2020, avoiding arbitration. Syndergaard, 26, can become a free agent following the 2021 season. He went 10-8 with a 4.26 ERA and 202 strikeouts in 197.2 innings last season.

The Mets also agreed to terms with closer Edwin Diaz, according to WFAN. The 25-year-old right-hander is coming off a disastrous 2019 in which he blew seven saves and pitched to 5.59 ERA.

Robert Gsellman also avoided arbitration, reportedly taking a $1.225 million deal for 2020.
