Carlos Beltran left tonight’s game with a right leg contusion after fouling a ball off his leg in the second inning against the Braves.
Beltran, after going to the ground several times, stayed in the game to finish the at-bat. He struck out against Atlanta’s Tim Hudson, but was then removed for Willie Harris. The Mets listed Beltran as day-to-day. They have tomorrow off and then play in Milwaukee on Tuesday.
The right fielder could be used as a chip as the July 31 trade deadline approaches, since he will be a free agent after this season.
