Kirk Nieuwenhuis has gotten the call to replace injured Andres Torres as the Mets center fielder.

The team placed Torres on the disabled list Friday, a day after he aggravated his left calf muscle in the season opener. Torres originally strained the calf during a March 20 exhibition game.

Nieuwenhuis impressed the Mets early in camp but later battled a strained oblique. He played in Thursday’s opener for Triple-A Buffalo, going 0-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base.

The 24-year-old battled injuries for most of last season and was limited to 188 at-bats at Triple-A. In 53 games, he batted .298 with six home runs and 14 RBIs.

It’s expected lefty-swinging Nieuwenhuis would play as part of a platoon in center, along with Scott Hairston, until Torres returns.

“Most likely some type of platoon,” Collins said in a text message to The Post. “But it won’t be strictly that.”
