The starting pitching-needy Mets are searching for an arm, and a former Yankee is on their radar.
Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon is someone about whom they have inquired, The Post’s Jon Heyman reported.
Taillon, 32, is having a strong season, pitching to a 2.96 ERA with a 1.15 WHIP in 100 ¹/₃ innings.

They certainly didn’t act like sellers Sunday despite being five games under .500 and five games back of a playoff spot, trading for Rays third baseman Isaac Paredes.
The Mets have also been linked to White Sox starter Erick Fedde, among others.
President of baseball operations David Stearns has been busy the last few days, trading for reliever Ryne Stanek and outfielder Jesse Winker.
But after losing Kodai Senga and Christian Scott to injuries over the last week, they are in search of starting pitching to bolster their postseason chances.
For now, Tylor Megill is in the rotation, but that may not be the case for very long.

Reid-Foley (right shoulder impingement), who last pitched for the Mets on June 19, allowed two earned runs on two hits in two-thirds of an inning for Single-A Brooklyn.
Manager Carlos Mendoza thinks he’ll need another minor league outing before being ready to return.
Garrett, meanwhile, threw his second bullpen session before Sunday’s 9-2 loss to the Braves and will face live hitters Wednesday.
After that and barring any setbacks, he should be able to begin a rehab assignment.
He has been sidelined with right elbow inflammation. Asked how the elbow felt, Garrett told The Post: “Great, incredible.”
Starling Marte (bone bruise right knee) sprinted at 70-75 percent Saturday and has also been taking batting practice outdoors.
He is getting closer to appearing in minor league games, although that isn’t necessarily imminent, according to Mendoza.
DJ Stewart was sent down to Triple-A Syracuse and Senga was shifted to the 60-day injured list to open up a spot on the active and 40-man rosters, respectively, for Winker.
Harrison Bader (right ankle) was available off the bench and could start Monday against the Twins. He hasn’t appeared in the last five games.
The Mets and Braves have now split 10 regular-season meetings. They have three games remaining in Atlanta Sept. 24-26.
