The Mets added some infield depth Monday when they claimed Robel Garcia off waivers from the Reds.

The 27-year-old was part of Cincinnati’s 60-man player pool this season. He appeared in 31 games for the Cubs in 2019, with a .775 OPS in 80 plate appearances and was claimed off waivers by the Reds in July.

After being released by Cleveland in 2014, Garcia played two seasons professionally in Italy before signing with the Cubs in 2018.

To make room for Garcia on the 40-man roster, the Mets designated outfielder Ryan Cordell for assignment. Cordell, 28, went 1-for-8 for the Mets last season after signing as a free agent.
