After months of flirtation, the Mets appear to finally be closing in on adding Chris Young to their starting rotation.

“Things are moving forward,” with the 6-10 right-hander, according to a team official.

The Mets have been interested in the 31-year-old since Sandy Alderson took over as GM; he and VP Paul DePodesta were executives in San Diego with Young.

Young, who has had shoulder surgery and pitched in four games last season with San Diego, still must pass a physical.
