Gary Sanchez’s future with the Mets could be determined soon.

The ex-Yankees catcher can opt out of his minor league deal with the Mets on Friday if he’s not called up to the major league roster.

Mets manager Buck Showalter said before Thursday’s game that no decision has been made about what they’ll do with Sanchez.

One possibility is asking him to extend the minor league contract for another 10 days, according to a source.

Once Friday passes, Sanchez can request his release and the Mets then would have one day to either add him to the MLB roster or grant the request. 

Sanchez signed with the Mets on May 9 after requesting his release from his minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants.

Showalter said the Mets have had several staff members with Syracuse watching Sanchez.

The 30-year-old got off to a fast start with Syracuse, going 6-for-13 with a homer, six walks and five strikeouts in his first four games, but is 1-for-9 with four strikeouts in his last three games.

It comes after he struggled with San Francisco’s Triple-A Sacramento affiliate, where he had a .501 OPS in 16 games.

Sanchez most recently played in the majors last season with the Twins, where he struggled after being traded by the Yankees during spring training.

But the Mets have had plenty of issues at catcher so far this season and have relied heavily on rookie Francisco Alvarez.

Tomas Nido remains on the IL with dry eye syndrome, although Showalter said he would likely start a rehab assignment soon.

Michael Perez has served as the backup since Nido went down. 

Alvarez had the biggest hit of his career in Wednesday’s win over Tampa Bay, a game-tying three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

Showalter said he didn’t mind playing Alvarez a lot, but warned against using him too much so that he’s less effective.

“It’s a constant juggling act,’’ Showalter said. “He’s already caught more than some people thought he might have.”

Alvarez was out of the lineup on Thursday after the previous night’s heroics.
