One of the Mets’ last three starting position players not on the injured list is now dealing with an injury of his own.

Dominic Smith was scheduled to be out of the Mets’ lineup Wednesday — before their game against the Rockies was postponed — because of a right knee contusion he suffered Tuesday night on a play that could have been avoided.

“He’s got some inflammation there,” manager Luis Rojas said. “There’s some swelling. They’re working on it, trying to tone it down. Just so he can do that and he should be good to come in if we need him for an at-bat or something, and also looking ahead, see if we can have him start the game [Thursday]. But no, not concerned about this being like a long-term thing.”

Smith sustained the injury on an awkward dive into home plate on Tomas Nido’s home run in the sixth inning Tuesday. The homer was initially ruled in play, causing Smith to dive home, but the umpires eventually determined it had landed over the fence.

A day after Noah Syndergaard (Tommy John surgery) exited his rehab start after just one inning with right elbow soreness, the Mets had no update on his status. Rojas said they planned to have some clarity Thursday after taking Wednesday to read his MRI exam results and discuss with doctors and medical staff.

“Everything was going perfect in the rehab assignment, so this is a speed bump on the road and everyone wasn’t overly concerned with how he was initially,” Rojas said. “But we still want to get clarity so we’re precise with the timeline or what the next step is for Noah.”

3B J.D. Davis (left hand sprain, joint inflammation) and OF Brandon Nimmo (left index finger bone bruise) are still not swinging the bat as they wait for swelling (Davis) and pain (Nimmo) to dissipate.

Infielder Luis Guillorme (right oblique strain) is “getting close” to hitting on the field, Rojas said, which would be the next step in his recovery before a rehab assignment.

RHP Jordan Yamamoto (right shoulder soreness), who was transferred to the 60-day IL to open a 40-man roster spot for Billy McKinney, will be shut down from throwing, with the Mets taking a “week-to-week approach” with his treatment, Rojas said.

RHP Dellin Betances (right shoulder impingement) is set to throw another side session Thursday. … RHP Tommy Hunter (lower back pain) is doing better and could rejoin the team sooner than Rojas had initially expected.
