Francisco Lindor is using the Mets’ playoff-less October to get healthier.

The shortstop underwent surgery to remove a bone spur from his right elbow on Tuesday, the team announced Wednesday.

Lindor “is expected to be fully ready for spring training,” the Mets said.

Despite the elbow issue, Lindor played 160 games this season while batting .254 with 31 home runs, a .806 OPS and strong defense.

He added 31 steals, making him the fourth Met in franchise history to reach the 30-30 club.

Dr. David Altchek, the Mets’ medical director, performed the surgery in New York.

There were no obvious signs during the season of Lindor playing with a compromised elbow, though his arm strength was down from recent years, according to Baseball Savant.

His throws averaged 80 mph this season, which was lower than his 83.3 mph in 2022 and 80.5 mph in 2021.

Lindor’s defense did not suffer, though, as his six Outs Above Average (via Baseball Savant) were tied for eighth among major league shortstops while his seven Defensive Runs Saved (via FanGraphs) were tied for seventh.

A year after playing 161 games, Lindor only missed two games this season, sitting out a pair of August games with right-side soreness.

During an underwhelming season for the Mets, the 29-year-old Lindor was their most consistent performer, posting a team-leading 6.0 Wins Above Replacement (per Baseball Reference), which was tied with Shohei Ohtani for eighth among all major league position players.
