PORT ST. LUCIE — A snake — believed to be non-poisonous — caused a brief commotion during a Mets workout on a back field on Wednesday. The snake, which had slithered into an enclosed bench area, was removed by a groundskeeper.

Jacob deGrom threw live batting practice for the second time this spring. The ace right-hander will pitch his first Grapefruit League game on Sunday.

Alex Rodriguez was present at workouts as part of his television duties. The former Yankees third baseman at one point asked that somebody take a picture of him with “my student,” Robinson Cano.

Thursday schedule: Full-squad workouts continue as the Mets prepare for Saturday’s Grapefruit League opener against the Braves at First Data Field.
