After having his song loudly booed during the home opener, Rick Astley got rick-rolled by the Mets today. We know you’re all crushed, but the club eliminated the cheesy 1980s singer from their eighth-inning “sing-along song” competition. An online prank called “Rick-rolling” resulted in Astley’s cheesy 1980s hit “Never Gonna Give You Up” getting more than 5 million write-in votes to be the Mets’ eighth-inning song.

The Mets say they have narrowed their song choices to The Monkees’ “I’m a Believer,” Billy Joel’s “Movin’ Out” and Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline.”

The finals of the competition started tonight and will be decided by crowd reaction.
