Sandy Alderson will be at Citi Field tomorrow after he returns from California, where he was teaching a course at the University of California-Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.

The new Mets’ GM is expected to begin interviewing managerial candidates this week, but according to a team official, none have been scheduled.

Potential candidates include internal choices like Wally Backman, who managed the Brooklyn Cyclones last season; scout Bob Melvin; Triple-A Buffalo manager Ken Oberkfell and others with ties to the Mets, like Rangers’ hitting coach Clint Hurdle. Texas GM Jon Daniels said the Mets had not asked permission to speak to the former Rockies’ manager.
