With less than three weeks to go until the end of the signing period for players taken in June’s First-Year Player Draft, the Mets have signed 31 of their 49 picks from that draft. They still haven’t signed their top pick, Melville High School’s left-hander Steve Matz, as well as three of their nine other picks in the top 10 rounds. The Mets have signed five of their picks from rounds 2-10, eight of their picks from rounds 11-20, nine of their picks from 21-30, seven picks from 31-40 and two picks from 41-50.
