Mets closer Jeurys Familia pleaded not guilty Thursday in his domestic violence case in New Jersey.
The relief pitcher is charged with simple assault for allegedly roughing up his wife, Bianca, on Oct. 31 at an apartment in Fort Lee.
He’s free on $1,500 bail.
Fort Lee Municipal Court Judge John DeSheplo lifted the court order barring contact between the alleged victim and Familia, at her request. Bianca sat next to him in court and they left holding hands.
Familia is coming off an All-Star season with the Mets in which he recorded an MLB-leading 51 saves. But he also gave up the game-winning home run in the Mets’ wild-card game loss to the San Francisco Giants.
The Mets still control contract rights to the 27-year-old closer, who made $4.1 million in 2016.
He’s due back in court on Dec. 15.
