Former Mets catcher Gary Carter isn’t scheduled to have another MRI exam until August, when doctors will look to see if the chemotherapy and radiation have made an impact on the brain cancer he was diagnosed with in May.
In the meantime, the Hall of Famer has had other battles, including a bout with walking pneumonia, according to his daughter Kimmy Bloemers on a family website.
The illness did not send Carter back to the hospital, and Bloemers wrote the family remains positive in his battle.
“Team Carter is definitely NOT giving up,” Bloemers wrote. “Brain cancer is the big problem but there have been many other bumps in the road for our family. Although it is not easy, we are doing all we can to stay positive and stay strong … We are praying for a miracle and we are praying BIG! Dad will get another MRI in August to see the activity in his brain. We pray for NO tumors and NO cancer!”
