The Mets avoided arbitration with Lucas Duda by agreeing on a one-year contract worth $4.2 million, according to an industry source. With Duda’s contract finalized, the Mets’ payroll for 2015 is roughly $100 million, but the team may reduce that number by trading a starting pitcher.
Earlier this offseason, the Mets avoided arbitration with Dillon Gee (one year, $5.3 million); Bobby Parnell (one year, $3.7 million); Ruben Tejada (one year, $1.88 million) and Jenrry Mejia (one year, $2.595 million).
Duda had 30 home runs with 92 RBIs last season for the Mets after winning the first-base competition with Ike Davis.
