The Mets made a flurry of roster moves this afternoon to address injuries and their pitching situation for Wednesday’s game with the Nationals. While reliever Matt Wise was finally activated, veteran right-hander Claudio Vargas (pictured) and utility player Fernando Tatis had their contracts purchased from Triple-A New Orleans.

To make room for all three, the Mets designated pitchers Jorge Sosa and Nelson Figueroa for assignment and put outfielder Angel Pagan on the DL with a shoulder injury stemming from that catch in LA last week.

Vargas, who was released by the Brewers in spring training, will start Wednesday against Washington so that Johan Santana can pitch Friday at Yankee Stadium.
