Mickey Callaway’s first career managerial ejection on Tuesday night had collateral damage: The Mets manager said his daughters, ages 12 and 9, were watching on TV and started crying when they saw their dad arguing with the umpire.

“They couldn’t understand why daddy was yelling at somebody,” Callaway said.

The manager was tossed in the sixth inning of the Mets’ 8-2 loss to the Braves after Brandon Nimmo was hit by a pitch but not awarded first base. Plate umpire Stu Scheurwater told Nimmo he had leaned in to the pitch.
