Jenrry Mejia spent much of the early part of the season sitting in idle in the Mets’ bullpen. Now that he’s pitching as a starter again for Double-A Binghamton, the organization is getting a look at what he can do when he’s full throttle.

The Mets’ top prospect threw seven shutout innings for the second straight start for the B-Mets tonight in their win over New Britain. The 20-year-old right-hander allowed three hits, struck out four and walked three.

Since returning from a strained pitching shoulder that kept him out for a month, Mejia has gone 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA, striking out 21 and walking 10 in 24 innings. He’s allowed four runs (three earned) since coming off the disabled list, and all of them came in the same start.
