PORT ST. LUCIE — Jenrry Mejia aced his first back-to back bullpen test, firing a shutout inning of relief in the Mets’ 7-6 exhibition victory over the Braves.
A day earlier, Mejia pitched 1 1/3 shutout innings against the Nationals.
Mejia now has a 1.54 ERA in seven appearances this spring. The right-hander hit 97 mph on the radar gun, which impressed Jerry Manuel.
“I want to see that adrenaline,” Manuel said. “I want to see how he responds with that adrenaline.”
Mejia, who did not allow a base runner, was more pleased with this performance than Monday’s against the Nationals.
“I threw more strikes this time,” Mejia said.
GM Omar Minaya said a decision on the right-hander likely won’t be made until the conclusion of camp next week.
