Logan Taylor, a Mets minor league pitcher with Triple-A Las Vegas, was attacked and injured by a homeless man in an attempted robbery Saturday in Salt Lake City, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Taylor, in town to play the Salt Lake Bees, was approached by 33-year-old Joshua Cruz, armed with a tire iron and a sock filled with rocks, who demanded Taylor’s wallet.

Taylor was hit in the back of the head after he refused. He suffered a concussion and needed multiple staples to close the wound on his head.

Taylor, who has a 3.96 ERA in 38 ²/₃ innings, was placed on the disabled list but was healthy enough to visit his teammates at the ballpark.

Cruz was arrested Saturday and booked Sunday, charged with aggravated robbery and failure to stop at the command of law enforcement.
